Our 2024 Travel Summary

Where did we travel in 2024?

In 2024, we traveled to four (maybe five) countries, two (or three) were new to us. We started in Tbilisi, Georgia, and ended in Bucharest, Romania. Along the way, we visited Turkey for almost two months and South Africa for about three weeks. In total, we traveled for about four months internationally. What does “maybe 5” countries mean above? We may or may not have made an accidental border crossing into Azerbaijan while driving through Georgia.

In addition, we did six house sits in Georgia and one in Alaska.  While doing the US house sits, we spent about 2 months away from home.

Conclusion and 2025 Plans

In total, we spent about 6 months away from home during 2024. Due to our flight from Bucharest to Atlanta being a business class one-way ticket, our airfare expenses more than doubled (about 67% of the total 2024 flight cost).  So, it was a bit of a splurge at the end of our four months of international travel.

We have a 6-week house sit in Iceland scheduled for early 2025 and a couple of other trips in the planning stages.
